On September 9th, 2024, @Shri Ram Global School, Lucknow organised a trip to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lucknow in our city for the students of grade XI as a part of the school’s SEWA( Social empowerment through work in Action) program. It was a truly enlightening and heuristic experience. The prominent feature of the visit was the tour of Akshay Patra Foundation, where the students got to see how the Prasadam Sewa operates and the different specialties that work together to provide patient care.
Furthermore, our students had the opportunity to visit the community kitchen, where they saw how the staff worked efficiently and calmly to prepare lunch in a hygienic way for the over 1000 patients everyday. Besides, the students and staff of Shri Ram Global School, Lucknow sponsored lunch for patients’ kin and the students of Grade XI served lunch to some of the patients which was an eye opening experience that gave them a deeper understanding of how a hospital functions to deliver quality healthcare. Moreover, students also participated in their role to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 5 and 10 meaning No poverty, Zero hunger, Gender equality and reduced inequalities by serving the vulnerable sections of the society.
Overall, the trip provided a great opportunity to learn about volunteering and selfless service which will certainly help our younger generation to become responsible citizens in years to come.
