Vidyasagar Education workshop by PARAKH, NCERT on Holistic Progress Card
Paradigm shift from Report card to Holistic Progress card for monitoring holistic development of the learners.’
A two-day Project Vidyasagar Education Workshop for the state of Uttar Pradesh was organised at Shri Ram Global School, Lucknow by PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) a constituent of NCERT and PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI) on 21 and 22 March,2024. PARAKH monitors the achievement of learning outcomes in the country and encourages and helps school boards to shift their assessment pattern towards meeting the skill requirements of the 21st century in consonance with the objectives of NEP2020.,
The workshop was initiated by Prof Indrani Bhaduri, CEO PARAKH NCERT, who exhorted the teachers to make use of the opportunity to understand about Holistic Progress Card (HPC), assessment reforms as per NEP 2020 and learning competencies at the foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary levels. Ms Shalini S Sharma, Assistant Secretary General, PHDCCI gave an overview of Project Vidyasagar and thanked Shri Ram Global School for facilitating the workshop for the state of Uttar Pradesh. Dr Peeyush Kamal, Assistant Professor, ESD, NCERT and Dr Priyanka Singh, resource person from PARAKH apprised the teachers on using PARAKH to track student progress and tailor teaching strategies accordingly.
Practical demonstrations and hands-on activities were conducted with 60 teachers to illustrate the application of PARAKH in classroom assessments.
Participants gained a thorough understanding of PARAKH, Project Vidyasagar and Holistic Progress Card and their significance in improving teaching practices.
The workshop was successful in equipping teachers with valuable insights and practical strategies to enhance their teaching practices and creating assessment rubrics. It is expected that the implementation of Project Vidyasagar will contribute significantly to improving student learning outcomes and promoting inclusive education in schools across the country.
