Shri Ram Global School’s Annual Sports Day, ‘Shri Spardha 2024’ was held on 6 December at KD Singh Babu Stadium, bringing together students, faculty, and the wider community to celebrate athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit. Spardha, meaning “competition” in Sanskrit, encapsulated the essence of friendly rivalry and healthy competition, aimed to promote physical fitness, unity, and school pride.
The day commenced by seeking the blessings of the divine through the school prayer, which was followed by an inspiring ‘Jalanjali’ meaning “water offering” that signified the importance of nurturing and respecting Mother Earth. The event was graced by our esteemed chief guest Mr Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj , an Indian para-badminton player and the World No. 1 in men’s singles category, he has also won silver medals in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympics Games thus becoming only Indian Para Badminton player to win back to back medals in Paralympic Games, and our honourable Chief Academic Advisor Ms. Pooja Prasad who were welcomed by our respected Principal Ms. Shameem Singh.
The event officially began with the lighting of the ceremonial torch and unveiling of our brand new logo ‘Simba- the Fearless Lion Cub’ by our Chief Guest and school dignitaries followed by a parade by the four houses each carrying their respective banners. Shri Spardha featured a variety of events, catering to different age groups and abilities ranging from the Bunny, Zig-Zag and Obstacle Race for the Pre-Primary students to
100m Sprint to 4×100 relay for the senior students. The highlights of the day were the ‘Sparkle Squad’ Or the Pom Pom and Hoola Hoop Drill and the ‘Rhythm of Resilience’- an innovative fusion of rhythmic yoga, tabata workout, gymnastics and pyramid formation wherein students demonstrated exemplary coordination, resilience, physical strength and endurance.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony wherein Kalam House bagged the Best March Past Trophy and Teresa House emerged as First Runner-Up. Medals and certificates were also presented to the first, second, and third-place winners of each competition. Our Chief Guest emphasized the value of sports in building character, self confidence and community spirit in his speech. The event culminated with a vote of thanks by our Chief Academic Advisor Ms. Pooja Prasad.
Shri Spardha 2024 was a memorable day filled with energy, camaraderie and a celebration of athletic talent. The event successfully reinforced the value of sportsmanship and fostered a stronger sense of community within Shri Ram Global School. We look forward to next year’s Spardha with an aim to make it even bigger and better, continuing the tradition of celebrating both individual and collective achievements in the spirit of friendly competition.
